Why We Use Glass Bottles (And You Should, Too)

At Fairhope Juice Company, we pride ourselves on providing high-quality juices that don’t only make you feel good, but that you can’t feel good about. That’s why we put the same amount of care into our bottles as we put into the custom, nutrient-dense blends that go inside them. How do we do that? By using beautiful glass bottles instead of single-use plastic vessels!

Of course, our glass bottles are more than just a pretty package. Glass is a better choice for people and the planet, causing less harm (and more happiness) than their plastic counterparts. If you’re still unsure, here are five reasons why we use glass bottles - and you should, too.

Plastic is piling up. There are currently 8.3 billion metric tons of plastic on our planet - and it isn’t going anywhere. Plastic doesn’t actually decompose, but breaks down into smaller particles until they are too small to be seen. That means that every molecule of plastic ever made is still in our environment today. At Fairhope Juice Co., we are doing our best not to contribute to this environmental disaster by choosing glass over single-use plastic bottles.

Glass is 100% recyclable. Glass is easily made into more glass, so it can be recycled over and over again without losing its integrity. On the other hand, plastic is downcycled into smaller, thinner items, losing integrity with each use. In fact, most plastics can only be recycled one or two times.

Glass is better for your health. When you drink from a plastic bottle, you could be ingesting industrial chemicals and small plastic particles that are hazardous to your health. Plastic ingredients like Bisphenol A (BPA) and Bisphenol S (BPS) can leach into your beverage over time and have been linked to serious health problems like hormonal imbalances, infertility, heart disease, and even certain cancers.

Unlike plastics, glass bottles are primarily made from naturally-occurring materials that won’t degrade over time. This means that when you drink a delicious Fairhope Juice Company juice, you can be sure there’s only goodness inside.

Your juice tastes better. Those chemicals that seep from your plastic bottle don’t just harm your health - they can also give your drink a terrible taste. Glass is non-porous and almost 100% inert, meaning it won’t affect your beverage at all. The simple fact is, everything tastes better out of a glass bottle - our juices included.

Glass can be reused. Glass bottles are easily sanitized and often stand the test of time. This means they can be reused many times in their original form, cutting down on waste completely. They can hold your homemade smoothies, provide a home for your art supplies, or provide your table with a vibrantly unique vase.

We love seeing how creative our customers can be when reusing our glass bottles, so tag us in a photo of your custom creation on social media! If you can’t reuse your vessel, please return it to one of our locations - we’ll sanitize and reuse it to spread more health and happiness to our local communities.
